One question, the right specialist.

SAM is an orchestrative multi-agent system: an Orchestrator classifies intent and routes to one of three specialists — Reference, Guide, or Debug — each grounded strictly in the SmartAssembly documentation. Step through the v2 build and the v3 skills-based replatform; Stage 1 runs a real cite-or-abstain example.

The same architecture, replatformed onto the new skills-based Copilot Studio experience on Claude Sonnet 5. The three specialists become inline skills under a single sole-tool-caller orchestrator, and the Dataverse retrieval flow is rebuilt natively as a Copilot Studio Workflow. The eval discipline caught the two remaining gaps in the parity run (73/75). UAT signed off by Doug Brandt, and promoted DEV → TEST → PROD as a clean managed solution on September 18, 2026, renamed from SAM v3 RP to Smart Assembly Mentor (SAM).

◆SAM Orchestrator— Sole tool-caller; routes the skills

The single entry point. It classifies intent, routes to exactly one specialist, optionally enriches the finding, and synthesizes a clean structured response. Crucially it answers nothing from its own knowledge — every technical claim is grounded in authoritative SmartAssembly documentation and produced by a specialist. Coordination, not decisioning.

Why it matters · One classification, one route. The orchestrator never answers a technical question itself — it hands off to the specialist and composes the reply.

LOAD_MDL — Assembly Description Block · opens a file dialog to select a model
