Finance team members needed answers to capital-appropriation questions — remaining budget, total spend, ownership — without opening a spreadsheet and scrolling. Capital Planner, built by Tim Maka, answers them in plain language, and is now being re-architected onto Dataverse for reliability at scale.

A Finance question like “how much is left on this CAR?” gets an answer directly, instead of a manual spreadsheet hunt — the everyday friction the agent removes.
Grounded in the record
Answers come from the authoritative CAR data — the single SharePoint Excel today, structured Dataverse tables tomorrow — so they match the system of record.
Re-architect for scale
The DEV POC moves the data layer to Dataverse and validates accuracy and performance with evals before any promotion — improve the foundation without disrupting the live tool.
Where it stands
Capital Planner is in Production (v1.0.0), live since March 4, 2026, grounded in a single SharePoint-hosted Excel file and built by Tim Maka for the Finance team. A DEV proof-of-concept (v0.2.0), begun March 26, re-architects the data into three Dataverse tables queried via the Microsoft Dataverse MCP Server — validating query accuracy and performance before any decision on TEST/PROD promotion.
